Dante diners get a taste of ‘life on the hedge’ with Sloemotion

Sloemotion have returned to their foraging instincts and created an innovative, small batch, craft gin, using botanicals found on Green Farm and in their local surroundings between Malton and York. Dante Festival Diners at York Racecourse’s flagship, The Parade Ring Restaurant, were treated to an exclusive preview of the brand new Hedgerow Gin one week before its public launch. Guests were welcomed with a glass of the Hedgerow Gin perfectly served with tonic water, English apple and a sprig of thyme, before taking their seat for lunch and an afternoon’s racing.

Jonathan Curtoys, Managing Director of Sloemotion said “Launching our new Hedgerow Gin in the Parade Ring Restaurant was a great opportunity for us. Not only is it amazing to see our products at the racecourse but having the opportunity to be there on the day and get direct feedback…. The feedback we got about the new gin on the day was great, extremely positive and guests took a genuine interest in our products.”

Sloemotion had worked with us the previous year in the Parde Ring Restaurant, giving guests a taste of their now multi-award winning liqueurs and fruit cup, No.7, so it was a joy having them back and help start the season in style.

Sloemotion’s Hedgerow Gin officially launched at the Food-Lovers Festival in Malton – Yorkshire’s food capital – on 27th and 28th May 2017. In line with their ‘life on the hedge’ philosophy they’ve included some novel hedgerow botanicals in the distillation alongside the classic London gin ingredients. Rosehips, crab apples and sloe stones are added for a mellow, fruity dryness. Elderflower, nettle leaf and wildflower rich meadow hay (including sweet vernal grass, meadowsweet and purple wild thyme) add a multitude of floral subtleties.

Sloemotion recommend Hedgerow Gin mixed with a good quality tonic, a slice of English apple and a sprig of thyme.  They also have a variety of gin cocktail ideas; recipes available on their website www.hedgerow-gin.com
