CGC Event Caterers’ Employee of the Year Award recognises and rewards those members of the team who have excelled in their role over the last 12 months. The nominees are selected based on their ability to deliver excellent customer service, their willingness to learn and take on new challenges, and their use of initiative in order to deliver efficiencies in our operation. Nominations are sought from across the company’s divisions.
Nominated for the 2016 award, which was presented at this year’s annual company day held at Wetherby Racecourse, were:
Sara Daniher – Sales coordinator at CGC Event Caterers Head Office
Sara’s enthusiasm and commitment to the role over the past two years has been plain to see. Her enthusiasm and courteous manner has been commented on by customers and clients of CGC. Sara started in a dual role between sales and event administration it was easy to identify Sara as a natural in this demanding, customer facing role. In addition to Sara’s office role, in 2016 she helped in the operation at York Racecourse in the owners and trainers and also in the main sponsor’s suite at The Ebor festival in 2015 just 5 weeks after starting with the company. Sara is a true team player and is always willing to help others in the office, and always does it with a smile.
Stefan Butler – Head Chef at York Racecourse
Stefan joined CGC Event Caterers in October 2015 looking for a new challenge. With an air of calmness he quickly got to grips with the complexities and high standards required at York Racecourse.
In Stefan’s first season at York Racecourse he exhibited continued and unwavering commitment to his new role. Met by a number of challenges, Stefan’s professional approach to growing the brigade and enhancing the offer has been evident receiving excellent customer and colleague feedback.
Backed up by Executive Chef, Andrew Hebdon, his experienced and supportive York Brigade and the further CGC teams, Stefan has maintained the company’s long standing reputation for quality local home cooked catering, for both raceday and non raceday operations.
Liam Martin – Pastry chef at The Hepworth, Wakefield
Liam has excelled since joining the team at the Hepworth. Since commencement of the contract in September 2014 we have prided ourselves in the inclusion of fresh homemade cakes and pies on the menu every day. The loyalty that Liam has shown at such a young age to continue his service, shows real dedication. The excellent feedback from customers, both in person and on various online review sites, and from the gallery itself make Liam an excellent choice for the Stadia and Heritage nominee.
Ben Morgan – Food and Beverage Manager at Manchester Arena
Ben was promoted in December 2016 and with the support of the team at Manchester has delivered a great result during the 1st three months of the year.
In addition to this Ben has worked on several other projects all with a view to adding value to both the business and the customer experience.
Ben is an innovator and is always looking to find new revenues streams or ways of working that benefit either the employees or the company as a whole
Danny Burke – Catering Manager at Beverley Racecourse
Danny has worked for CGC Event Caterers for a number of years and is always showing a passion and drive for more, whilst encompassing the company’s ethos and always possessing a positive and can do attitude at all times. He has matured through his time here and always wants to learn through professional and personal development. With the aforementioned in mind, he was given an opportunity at a new, bespoke wedding venue – the Sun Pavilion. The task was to develop the business and drive the standards. He did this wholeheartedly and then progressed into a well-deserved opportunity in running Beverley Racecourse in 2016 which had its business season since we commenced catering at the venue over 20 years ago. Feedback from clients, colleagues and guests alike is always exemplary and Danny is always happy to help others whilst driving forward his own career.
People are without doubt the heart and soul of our business. Highly skilled, experienced and with a passion to learn and experiment. We source like-minded people and nurture talent across the group and have many examples of individuals who have grown with the business, eager to learn and always hungry to do more.
