CASE STUDY: YORK RACECOURSE
York Racecourse is widely regarded as one of the Premier racecourses in Europe having been awarded the ‘Flat Racecourse of the Year’ award and also scooping the top prize in The Times newspaper’s survey of all Britain’s Racecourses.

CGC Event Caterers has provided catering services at the course for over 30 years and has a dedicated, stand-alone team of 40 full time York Racecourse Hospitality staff including chefs, event managers and sales executives. In addition, up to 900 catering staff members from our extensive staffing base are deployed across the course on a raceday.

Our catering provision at York Racecourse ranges from the operation of fast-paced, high volume kiosks, bars and food outlets in the public areas to elegant and intimate fine dining experiences within the many hospitality boxes and restaurants. 2015 saw the completion of a multi-million pound development including a brand new 140 seater restaurant offering spectacular views of the Parade Ring. In addition, the redesigned Champagne bar terraces tripled the seating capacity of the previous lawns and now feature a new Moet & Chandon Champagne bar.

Race day dining & hospitality
56 hospitality boxes & suites and 7 restaurants provide racegoers with the most fantastic facilities from which to enjoy the thrill of a raceday. Second only to the action on the track, catering can make or break a day. Our menus are designed to delight and excite our hospitality guests for an occasion that sticks in the memory.

Bars & kiosks
Up to 180 bars and 60 retail food outlets are operational on a peak day at York Racecourse. Each mobile catering unit is hand picked for quality and positioned on the course to attract a range of racegoers.

Non-raceday conferences and events
The on-site team are responsible for approximately 260 non-raceday events including weddings, conferences & meetings, product launches, Christmas parties and awards dinners. With 2,000 square metres of flexible exhibition space, conference capacity of up to 1,000 delegates and corporate dining for upwards of 650, York Racecourse has built up a first class reputation as a venue for business events, celebrations and conferences with a vibrant mix of catering solutions to suit each occasion.
